It has been mandatory to almost all growers to have a strict Farm Food Safety Program in place on their farm. Everything is documented from the start of the season to the end of the season with the food safety program; seed purchases, cutting of seed, planting, fertilizing, spacing of seed, chemicals and harvesting. The dates and times of everything the grower has done is recorded. Most growers have everything entered into a computer program for ease of printing if the customer requires it. It also rolls into the storage season as well. The growers have to maintain certain standards inside and out of the storage buildings. Bin sampling every ten feet, a rodent control program, locks, and sign in sheets, are just some of the storage requirements.
